There is some great news for all of you who have the UK iPhone 3G, Apple has recently released the 3G S version, which is now faster and more capable than before. It also has a better battery life, which is a great bonus. This was the one Achilles heel of this great phone when it first came out as the UK iPhone 3G.

Apple has said that over 6 million folks have downloaded the firmware upgrade to the iPhone 3G in just the week after it was launched on 17 June 2009. Additionally Apple has sold over 1 million of the iPhone 3G S in just the first week of its release. Phenomenal. It is a great phone. Here are some of the updates from the UK iPhone 3G that are now available on the UK iPhone 3G S.

It is now available in 16GB or 32GB versions, so tons more room for storage and apps. Of course the price isn’t any cheaper and you’ll pay about £440 and £540 respectively for pay as you go. A much better bet is to get your UK iPhone 3G S on a contract.

Some other cool features on the UK iPhone 3G S are a compass that works well, voice control for text and calling and a video capable camera with on the fly editing. There is good reason this phone is quickly becoming a best seller. At O2, expect to pay around £75 a month over 24 months if you want your UK iPhone 3G S 32GB for free.
